The Devils will not attempt to re-sign Gomez in the offseason, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Analysis:

The Devils are likely trying to get younger. Unfortunately, the 35-year-old Gomez simply doesn't fit into those plans. However, someone will likely take a chance on the veteran forward, as he has been able to remain relatively productive even as he has gotten up there in age. He managed to tally 34 points in 58 games with the Devils in 2014-15, and can still serve as a valuable offensive contributor when healthy.
