As part of their attempt to drastically revamp the offense, the Buffalo Bills acquired versatile wide receiver Percy Harvin via free agency.

Upon joining the Bills, Harvin was reunited with wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal, who mentored him during his brief tenure with the New York Jets.

Harvin spoke about his role in the Bills offense and his relationship with Lal.

"I fell in love with Sanjay (Lal) as a coach," Harvin said to the Bills' official website. "His ability to get me to process things so quickly… going into the second or third game, I felt like I had been playing outside for years. Working with him and him being able to get it through to me, the things I needed to work on, whether it was V-cuts or speed cuts or coming out of breaks - we just hit it off. His verbiage was just what I needed. That was all a part of my big decision to come here."

Harvin was traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Jets mid-season, after reportedly clashing with wide receiver Doug Baldwin and asking out of a game. The 27-year-old speedster was drawn in by the Jets personnel, many of whom joined the Bills after Rex Ryan was appointed as the team's head coach on Jan. 12.

The Bills' wide receiver coach actively influenced Harvin to try new techniques, an approach that the one-time Pro Bowler greatly appreciated.

"Aside from the first two years I got in the league I've been just a gadget guy,” Harvin said. "I've been dying to just sit down with that one coach who will tell me what I'm doing wrong and what I need to do. Every day coach Sanjay is coming to me with different techniques I can use. He's texting me at night asking me to try this or that. I worked on them and they looked perfect.

"I was dying to get with that coach who would sit with me and want to bring the best out of me and since I've been with the Jets he's been doing that. I think this year a lot of people are going to see the end result of it."

An odd couple of sorts, Lal's approach to developing a young, talented Bills wide receiver group is paramount to the team's playoff hopes in 2015.
