Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jerome Bettis was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of the 2015 class, and he'll be honored by the Steelers during their October 1 contest against the arch-rival Baltimore Ravens.

Nicknamed 'The Bus' for his bruising running style, Bettis was selected to the Pro Bowl six times and helped the Steelers capture Super Bowl XL in the final game of his career.

Bettis' 13,662 rushing yards rank sixth all-time, trailing only Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, Curtis Martin and LaDainian Tomlinson.

Selected 10th overall by the Los Angeles Rams, Bettis spent three years with the organization before being traded to the Steelers with a third-round pick in April 1996, in exchange for second- and fourth-round selections in 1997.

Bettis will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on August 8, alongside the late Junior Seau, Tim Brown, Charles Haley, Bill Polian, Will Shields, Mick Tingelhoff and Ron Wolf.
