Lightning's Stamkos on potential contract extension: 'I'm not losing sleep over it'

After he came just short of winning his first Stanley Cup, eyes have now shifted to Steven Stamkos and a potential contract extension.

The Tampa Bay Lightning forward has one year remaining on his current contract and though many question whether he will sign an extension or test free agency, the 25-year-old isn't worrying about the outcome just yet.

"That stuff is going to take care of itself," Stamkos told Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times. "It's a bigger story now that we went so deep and that everyone is expecting news right away. We literally just finished the toughest hockey we've played in our careers. We're going to relax a little bit. I'm going to go home this week, talk to who I need to talk to and go from there. I'm not losing any sleep over it."

Stamkos is entering the final year of his five-year, $37.5 million contract, but if he hits free agency, one would expect many teams would be willing to offer more for his services.

In the meantime, it looks like Stamkos will play it cool and try to enjoy his summer before making any big decisions.
