Report: Browns claim Terrelle Pryor off waivers

The Cleveland Browns claimed wide receiver Terrelle Pryor off waivers Monday, according to Pro Football Talk.

Pryor's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, recently informed clubs that his client would be switching from quarterback to wide receiver after failing to secure a meaningful role in 2014.

The 26-year-old is best known for his stint with the Oakland Raiders, appearing in 15 games, including 10 starts, from 2011-13. Pryor then signed briefly with the Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, and Cincinnati Bengals.

Cincinnati waived Pryor on Thursday for reasons that may not be strictly related to his on-field performance. Pryor posted videos of himself throwing during the Bengals' minicamp on Instagram, a move that reportedly irked the organization and contributed to his release.

"If I'm (another team), I have to think hard about signing him or else he might give out valuable information of theirs, too," an unnamed Bengals source told ESPN's Coley Harvey.

One of the most highly touted high school recruits in history, Pryor's athleticism is evident every time he steps on the field, but it didn't translate to a sustainable career at quarterback.

Standing 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, and running the 40-yard dash in a sub-4.4 time, Pryor ostensibly possesses the skills to become an excellent possession receiver. Whether the 2010 Rose Bowl MVP can grasp the nuances of the position is his main challenge entering training camp.
