Vikings' Charles Johnson can't find his own jersey for sale anywhere

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Charles Johnson had to go to great lengths to find a Father's Day gift this year.

Johnson was the Vikings' leading receiver over the final seven games of last season, and yet, it's been impossible for him to find his own jersey for sale anywhere. He's instead had to resort to rigging old No. 12 jerseys left over from Percy Harvin's days with the Vikings to give out as gifts.

"I can't get any jerseys for my family,'' Johnson told Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "I went out and bought some old Percy Harvin jerseys and just took off the Harvin and put Johnson on the back. But man, I wish I could get my jersey.

"I wish they'd have my jersey for sale. If they did, I'd be willing to buy them all myself.''

With Father's Day approaching, Johnson was prepared to give his dad, Fred Johnson, one of his altered Harvin jerseys. Fortunately, his wife, Kalyn, was able to track down an authentic one from a Vikings official.

Johnson's jersey still can't be found online or in stores, and one employee at Vikings Locker Room in the Mall of America told Tomasson that there are no known plans of any being made available soon. However, teammate Mike Wallace thinks it's only a matter of time before they start popping up on store shelves.

"If he can go out there and make plays, they'll have them in stores soon enough,'' Wallace said. "If he can go out there and continue how he finished off last year, he'll have jerseys in no time.''
