Juventus doesn't waste time in the transfer market.

Having already completed the signings of Paulo Dybala and Sami Khedira earlier this summer, the Italian champions – who fell just short of a treble this past season – have reportedly reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid on the transfer of striker Mario Mandzukic.

Multiple reports in Italy, including those from Sky Sport's transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio, La Stampa, and Gazzetta dello Sport – along with Spanish outlet AS – claim an €18-million deal is sealed, and that an official announcement could come early next week.

The news comes on the back of widespread reports only 24 hours earlier which claimed that talisman Carlos Tevez has decided to return to hometown club Boca Juniors this summer.

Though Mandzukic is a very different type of striker from an attacking sense, his relentless defensive work mirrors that of the Argentine, and was a key element of Atletico's energetic, high-pressing system.

The Croatian international, 29, found the net 17 times in 38 matches between the Champions League and La Liga this past season, and combined with the arrival of Dybala and the continued growth of Alvaro Morata, will be expected to replace Tevez's output of 27 tallies over the same competitions.

As for the Spanish side, the potential to make nearly €20 million on a striker quickly approaching 30 years old, who didn't score a goal in the final three months of the season as he dealt with a lingering ankle problem, is a shrewd piece of business.
