AMES, Iowa - Iowa State running back Martinez Syria has been kicked off the team.
Cyclones coach Paul Rhoads says Syria has been dismissed for violating team policies.
Syria gained 47 yards on 20 carries as a true freshman last season. His dismissal further erodes the depth on one of Iowa State's weakest positions.
Tyler Brown, who gained 109 yards as a freshman in 2014, and redshirt freshman Mike Warren figure to compete for the starting job.
