Baylor could start a season in the Land Down Under in the near future.

The Bears are reportedly negotiating the possibility of opening the 2016 season in Australia, according to Fox Sports' David Ubben.

Though talks are still in the early stages, the report notes that the opponent for the matchup would likely come from the Pac-12. The Baylor Rivals.Com website, which was the first to report on the possibility of an Australia game, pointed to the Cal Golden Bears as the team in Baylor's crosshairs.

Baylor athletic director Ian McCaw said in Tuesday's ESPN radio interview that the Bears had proposed to open the 2016 season overseas, according to the FOX report.

They will open the upcoming season against SMU on Sept. 4 in Dallas, Texas.
