Kyle Busch wins in his return to the Xfinity Series

In his first race back in the Xfinity Series since the season opener, Kyle Busch drove his No. 54 Toyota to Victory Lane at Michigan International Speedway after Saturday's Great Clips 250.

Busch was sidelined after breaking his leg and foot in a crash at the season opener at Daytona in February. He returned to the Sprint Cup Series in May, but didn't resume competing in the second-tier series until this weekend.

Busch led 27 laps and was a contender for the win for most of the afternoon. The 33-year-old chased down, and took the lead from, Chase Elliott in the final four laps, crossing the finish line 0.477 seconds ahead of the 19-year-old when the checkered flag flew.

Elliott, the defending Xfinity Series champion, has yet to win this season.

Kyle Larson, Chris Buescher, and Elliott Sadler rounded out the top five. Buescher led 23 of 125 laps.

With nine laps to go, Kevin Harvick and then-leader Joey Logano battled for position, but made contact with each other. They slid to the outside wall and out of contention. Harvick finished sixth. Pole-sitter Logano led 54 laps, the most of any driver, and finished seventh.

Denny Hamlin went two laps down when he ran out of fuel and coasted onto pit road with 45 laps to go. He was only one lap down when a caution flag flew and he was awarded the "lucky dog" pass to get back onto the lead lap. He finished 10th.

With 14 laps remaining, Paul Menard (18th), Ryan Reed (19th), and Jeremy Clements (31st) were involved in the eighth caution of the day. Grass and dirt flew onto the track and a red flag was waved to allow officials to clean up.

Sprint Cup Series regular Danica Patrick also made her broadcasting debut during the event on FOX Sports.
