Phoenix International Raceway will be renamed Jeff Gordon Raceway for one day on November 15 for the Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500.

“It’s an honor to have the track named after me, even if only for a day,” Gordon said. “What a cool gesture by Bryan Sperber, his staff and ISC. I’ve had some great moments at Phoenix International Raceway, and this will just add to the many great memories I have of racing in Phoenix.”

The four-time Sprint Cup champion has two wins and a track-record 23 top-10s in 33 starts at Phoenix.

"I'm very much looking forward to that race," he said at a press conference. "I hope that we're in the battle so that we can not just go there to try to win at the Jeff Gordon Raceway but to make it meaningful for the championship."

Gordon has yet to lock himself into the Chase for the Sprint Cup with a trip to Victory Lane, but he does currently sit inside the top-16 cutoff for the championship in 10th.

During the renaming, Gordon will sign sets of trading cards, and a car hood with the Jeff Gordon Raceway logo will be auctioned by the NASCAR Foundation to benefit Gordon's Children's Foundation and Phoenix Raceway Charities.

A "24" will also be painted on the start/finish line and fans will be able to write messages to the driver.
