Browns' Tashaun Gipson signs 2nd-round RFA tender

Cleveland Browns safety Tashaun Gipson signed his second-round tender Friday, the team announced.

With the tender, Gipson will be paid $2.356 million for the 2015 season. If Gipson fielded another contract offer before April 29, the Browns could've matched the deal within a five-day window, or let him sign with the opposition and receive a second-round draft pick as compensation.

Gipson is coming off the best season of his career, where he recorded 52 tackles, a forced fumble, and six interceptions in 11 games, before suffering a season-ending MCL injury. The 24-year-old was selected to his first Pro Bowl as a result.

After signing the tender, Gipson is expected to attend next week's minicamp. An integral part of the team's defense, Gipson's signing will put Browns general manager Ray Farmer at ease entering the 2015 season.
