Warriors' Bogut: LeBron 'jumped into the cameraman' during Game 4
Well, this should help in ratcheting things up a bit ahead of Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
Golden State Warriors center Andrew Bogut said after Game 4 that LeBron James' collision with a TV camera was the result of him jumping into the camera on purpose in an attempt to exaggerate contact.
"I think he jumped into the cameraman," Bogut told Sam Amick from USA Today. "I think he came down and took two steps and then fell into the cameraman. I definitely, definitely didn't hit him that hard."
Judge for yourself at live speed:
"If you look at the replay, you can see the two steps being taken and then him falling into the camera," Bogut added. "That's what we saw on the replay, and that's what my teammates saw."
It's possible Bogut is right, and James was trying to draw the flagrant foul call for a shove. However, the immutable laws of physics have long proven that a hard-driving, 250-pound athlete can't simply stop on a dime.
James received a nasty gash on the back of his head that required stitches, but didn't undergo concussion protocol after the game. He did admit to having a headache though.
Further to the collision, the man caught on live television scolding the cameraman is Lynn Merritt, James' brand manager at Nike.
Merritt is fiercely protective of James and was the individual responsible for confiscating a 2009 tape of Jordan Crawford dunking on James at a 2009 summer camp, according to Jeff Goodman of ESPN.
