Baylor forward Rico Gathers was arrested for shoplifting from a Walmart in Waco, Texas, according to a report from ABC News Channel 25.

According to police, they received a report from the Walmart on June 3 about a theft that occurred around midnight on June 1. After reviewing surveillance video, the store reportedly identified the shoplifter as Gathers.

The 21-year-old is accused of taking nearly $200 worth of items, including a trash can, two pillows, a tote bag, and a water dispenser without paying for them. Walmart employees say they saw him put the items into a shopping cart and exit the store.

A warrant was issued for Gathers's arrest, and he turned himself in to police on Tuesday. He was charged with theft over $50 and under $500, which is a class B misdemeanor.

Gathers paid bail and was released on $1,000 bond.

Baylor head coach Scott Drew released the following statement Wednesday regarding the incident.

"We are aware of the situation involving Rico Gathers and are in the process of gathering the facts to determine what transpired," Drew said. "It would be inappropriate for me to comment further at this time."

As a junior, the All-Big 12 forward averaged 11.6 points and 11.6 rebounds this past season.
