A phenomenal season in which he notched 10 goals and a league record 20 assists resulted in Kevin De Bruyne being voted as the 2014-15 Bundesliga Player of the Season on Monday.

De Bruyne, the engine behind VfL Wolfsburg's excellent campaign, amassed 52.5 percent of the ballot, beating out Arjen Robben of Bayern Munich (23.5 percent) and Karim Bellarabi of Bayer Leverkusen (6.6 percent).

Not only were the Belgian attacking midfielder's 20 assists a Bundesliga record, but they were more than any other player in Europe's top five leagues registered, as second-placed Cesc Fabregas and Lionel Messi both finished with 18. Furthermore, De Bruyne's 20 assists were eight more than any other Bundesliga player tallied.

If that wasn't impressive enough, De Bruyne ranked first in the Bundesliga in key passes per game (3.3) and sixth in dribbles per game (4.7).

It should come as no surprise that the 23-year-old is reportedly being tracked by Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich, and he admitted over the weekend that he was never given an explanation as to why he didn't receive regular playing time at Chelsea.

"I still don't understand why Jose Mourinho let me leave," De Bruyne said, according to the Guardian. "I never discussed it with him. I started to play and then it was finished. After four months, I asked him to leave. I didn't want to stay at a club where I wasn't even playing for 10 minutes. He said it was my attitude in training? It is an excuse he can use.

"But no one can say that as they haven't seen me train. I don't think that in Belgium or in the Bundesliga they have complained about this. That is the way it is. I am not angry. When I was transferred to Wolfsburg, Chelsea got their money. Everyone was happy."
