Lightning's Bishop leaves Game 2 late in 3rd period for undisclosed reason

Kim Klement / USA TODAY Sports

Andrei Vasilevskiy earned his first career Stanley Cup Final victory in strange fashion.

He replaced Ben Bishop not once, but twice in the third period as the Tampa Bay Lightning starter was forced from the crease for undisclosed reasons versus the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 2.

Jon Cooper did not offer an explanation after the game, but Jason Garrison, who scored the eventual game-winner during Vasilevskiy's initial 92-second interval (and with Bishop waiting to re-enter the game), said he didn't exit for the purposes of using the washroom.

Vasilevskiy made the final five saves required to secure the win, and survived a Blackhawks' power play in the process.

Bishop wasn't made available to the media because of "treatment," while his teammates remained mum on the subject.
