Collier, Quinonez earn wins on UFC Fight Night 68 Fight Pass Prelims
Jake Collier def. Ricardo Abreu via split decision
A split decision between Ricardo Abreu and Jake Collier almost seemed appropriate Saturday night.
The two men stood toe-to-toe for 15 minutes, as Collier flashed the more technical striking and combinations (including some heavy kicks to the body), while Abreu likely landed the cleaner, harder punches.
Although Abreu was able to take the fight to the floor multiple times, he wasn't able to deploy his vaunted jiu-jitsu, and Collier quickly worked his way upright and proceeded to use volume striking to narrowly outpoint the Brazilian.
As time ticked away in the final stanza, Collier and Abreu threw technique out the window and wildly chucked anvils until the final horn blared, after which they shared a celebratory embrace.
Jose Quinonez def. Leonardo Morales via first-round rear-naked choke
Once Jose Quinonez dragged Leonardo Morales to the ground, it was already over.
After some hard work along the cage, Quinonez tossed Morales to the floor, and eventually started working from side-control, where it didn't take long for him to transition to Morales' back during a scramble.
Once there, it was academic, as Quinonez sunk in the fight-ending rear naked choke at 2:34 of the opening stanza.
