Cavaliers' Miller on spot point guard duties: 'Yeah, point cheerleader'

Well, at least Mike Miller understands his limitations.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are down to just one healthy point guard after Kyrie Irving fractured his kneecap in a collision with Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson.

Given that the Cavaliers are in dire need at the point, the search for a potential backup for Matthew Dellavedova will span all corners of their depleted roster.

But don't look to shooting guard Mike Miller. Although he used to be a decent playmaker in the past, the 35-year-old is well aware of his present shortcomings.

Miller has played a grand total of 37 minutes across four games this postseason. He's an emergency spot-up shooter behind J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert in the depth chart.

Still, in another decade, Miller would have been decent in spot point guard duty. Miller posted four seasons in which he averaged over four assists per 36 minutes from the shooting guard position.

But in 2015, Miller is not an option at the point. The mere thought of an ancient Miller checking Stephen Curry - even for a possession - should give Cavaliers fans nightmares.

Instead, the Cavaliers will likely rely on a combination of LeBron James, Shumpert, Dellavedova, and hope to get them through.
