The Oklahoma City Thunder continue to tinker with their coaching staff.

After replacing Scott Brooks with former Florida Gators head coach Billy Donovan, the Thunder have brought Monty Williams on board to serve as Donovan's lead assistant, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

The announcement of Williams' hiring could be made as soon as Wednesday, reports Marc Stein of ESPN.

In addition to Williams, the Thunder are also in the market for an assistant with a strong defensive pedigree, Wojnarowski reports.

Williams served five years as head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans before being dismissed on May 12. Williams built a reputation as a player's coach, and guided New Orleans to a 173-221 record despite toiling through a rebuilding year.

Prior to his position in New Orleans, Williams spent time as an assistant in Portland and San Antonio. Williams also serves as an assistant for USA Basketball.

The Toronto Raptors were also reportedly interested in hiring Williams. Toronto is in the market for assistant coaches after dismissing two members of Dwane Casey's staff following a bitter end to a disappointing 2014-15 season.

Williams joins previous holdovers Mark Bryant and Darko Rajakovic on Donovan's bench. The Thunder were also reportedly interested in former Pistons head coach Mo Cheeks.
