VIDEO: Dodgers' Pederson launches mammoth 477-foot homer

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Hot-hitting rookie Joc Pederson is taking his game to new heights in high-altitude Colorado this week.

Less than 24 hours after drilling his 14th homer of the season off Rockies left-hander Christian Friedrich, Pederson crushed a 477-foot two-run moonshot Tuesday off the second-level facing in right field to give the Los Angeles Dodgers an early 2-1 lead.

Pederson, who tied a franchise rookie record for home runs in a calendar month with nine in May, has homered in three straight games. He leads all first-year players with 15 homers and 30 runs scored through 51 games.

ESPN Stats & Info measured Tuesday's blast as slightly shorter than the 477 feet recorded by MLB Statcast, but still notes that Pederson leads the majors in average home-run distance at 425 feet.
