Yaya Toure's agent says client staying at Manchester City: 'Sheikh Mansour told him he must stay'
The saga of Yaya Toure's future appears to have reached its conclusion.
After recently claiming he was "90 percent certain" his client would leave Manchester City this summer, Toure's agent, Dimitri Seluk, says his client will indeed be at the Etihad Stadium next season.
Seluk told Simon Mullock of the Sunday Mirror that Toure spoke with City's owner, Sheikh Mansour, who assured the 31-year-old defensive midfielder that he's a key figure in City's future.
"Yaya is staying - because Sheikh Mansour told him he must stay," Seluk said. "Mansour told Yaya he is still a very important player and that he was the first big player to join City after the takeover.
"He told him that City wouldn't even discuss a sale. This is good. People have tried to say that Yaya only wanted more money, but it was never about money. It was only about respect."
Toure - reportedly City's highest earner on roughly £220,000 per week - signed a four-year contract in April 2013. He was being pursued by Inter Milan, and it was also reported that City had offered Toure to Juventus as part of a deal for Paul Pogba.
