Notes: Top-seeded Williams was forced to pick up her play after losing the first set to Friedsam. She avoided the upset and moves on to the next round against Azarenka. Williams was also critical of her own play following the match. ... Defending French Open champion Maria Sharapova will play Sam Stosur on Friday. The two have a history at the tournament: last year Stosur nearly edged out Sharapova, but she was able to avoid elimination.

Notes: Goerges's upset victory over Wozniacki makes her the third woman seeded in the top 10 to bow out of the French Open. The other two were third-seeded Simona Halep and sixth-seeded Eugenie Bouchard. ... The match between Schiavone and Kuznetsova was highly entertaining and went the distance, becoming the third-longest women's singles match in Roland Garros history, as well as the longest of 2015.

Djokovic took a medical timeout during the second set of his match against Muller. He would return shortly after being looked at, winning his 24th straight match, and later declared he is not concerned with his hip injury. ... Murray was left speechless after his victory by Fabrice Santoro's interview attire. ... David Ferrer is now 17-4 on clay in 2015. ... Richard Gasquet and Carlos Berlocq's match was postponed Thursday due to darkness after Berlocq took the fourth set 6-4 to force a fifth. They will play the final set Friday.

Andujar outplayed his opponent in Thursday's continuation to push himself into the next round. ... Kokkinakis stormed back and rallied in the final three sets of his match after losing the first two to Tomic. ... Robredo doesn't usually lose in the fifth set, but he did Thursday. His only fifth-set losses since 2006 are against Djokovic and now Coric. ... At 18, Coric becomes the youngest ATP player to enter the third round of a Grand Slam tournament since Tomic in 2011.
