Lions' Dan Orlovsky thinks Theo Riddick 'is too good to not put on the field'

Detroit Lions quarterback Dan Orlovsky is apparently Theo Riddick's biggest fan.

Orlovsky gushed about Detroit's backup running back Tuesday to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

"Theo's too good to not put on the field," Orlovsky said. "Theo has stuff that you can't coach, that you can't teach, that you're born from God with. He just has an ability to get open better than everyone else."

Even though Reggie Bush was released, Riddick figures to continue to struggle for playing time behind Joique Bell and second-round pick Ameer Abdullah.

Still, Orlovsky sees Riddick overcoming the odds for a productive season.

"I think Theo will probably have, like, 60 catches," Orlovsky said. "He's a pretty good player."

That's an ambitious statement, but perhaps it's simply a sign of solidarity between backups.
