Report: Lakers not just thinking big at No. 2

Since the NBA Draft Lottery was completed Tuesday, there's been much discussion about which big man - Duke's Jahlil Okafor or Kentucky's Karl-Anthony Towns - will go No. 1 in June's draft to the Minnesota Timberwolves, and which one will land at the Los Angeles Lakers' doorstep at No. 2.

Not so fast, according to one report.

ESPN's Dave McMenamin - who used to cover the Lakers before moving on to the Cleveland Cavaliers - reported Thursday that L.A. could go either big or small on June 25.

This shouldn't come as a surprise. D'Angelo Russell and Emmanuel Mudiay are both exciting prospects - Mudiay as a true point guard and Russell as more of a combo.

Jeremy Lin is not expected to be a Laker next season, although they still have a promising young point in Jordan Clarkson.

Then there are the Rajon Rondo rumors. Another thing to consider up front for the Lakers is the fact they still have a big man who was a top-10 pick last year, Julius Randle. The Kentucky product lost his entire rookie season to a broken leg in the first game of the year.
