LSU to run compliance-approved marketing campaign around No. 1 recruit Ben Simmons
LSU's men's basketball program landed the nation's top prospect this recruiting period and the Tigers are looking to take advantage off the basketball court, as well as on it.
The LSU athletics department announced Wednesday that it would be rolling out a new marketing campaign centered around the nation's No. 1 recruit, Ben Simmons, and his chosen jersey number, 25.
The "25 is Coming" campaign will be featured throughout Baton Rouge on billboards, in print, and in online and social media advertising.
An LSU official told ESPN's Darren Rovell that it received permission from Simmons to market him in this way, and that the campaign has been compliance-approved.
It's interesting that the program would choose to be so direct in its marketing of Simmons in the wake of Ed O'Bannon's athlete likeness representation lawsuit. It seems unlikely this is the last we'll be hearing of this particular campaign.
