Derek Carr's agent denies client needs hand surgery

Cary Edmondson / USA TODAY Sports

Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr's agent says reports suggesting his client needs surgery on his throwing hand are a "nonstory," Lev Facher of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Carr is being held out of offseason workouts with what's rumored to be numbness in his right ring finger.

"I don’t know where this idea came up that he’s going to be having surgery," agent Tim Younger said. "The situation, I don’t even want to call it an injury, is very minor, and we’re just being cautious."

Younger said he expects Carr to be throwing before the end of Raiders OTAs in early June. Even if Carr misses that target, Younger said the second-year passer will be 100 percent for minicamp in July.
