Travis Frederick reluctant to call Cowboys' offensive line the best ever

High-profile undrafted free agent La'el Collins made many perk up at his introductory press conference with the Dallas Cowboys when he said, "This is going to be the best offensive line in NFL history. Mark my words."

His veteran teammates aren't so quick to make that claim.

"That's not something that I personally am going to say," center Travis Frederick said at a Cowboys fundraiser on Tuesday, according to Todd Archer of ESPN. "I know that we have a long way to go to reach anything like that, you know?"

Frederick, Zack Martin, Tyron Smith, Doug Free and Ronald Leary made up the best offensive line in the NFL last season, helping running back DeMarco Murray win the rushing title and allowing Tony Romo to be sacked just nine times.

On paper, adding first-round talent Collins to the mix will make the Cowboys' line even better. But Frederick understands the fluidity of NFL rosters and performance.

"A lot can be said about the guys that are there, but there's also a lot of times where talent goes wasted if it's not put to good use," Frederick said. "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. We have a long way to go, and we're going to continue to work and continue to try to get better."
