Kyle Busch makes return to Sprint Cup: "I'll be sore for a couple days"

Despite being a little sore, Kyle Busch finished sixth in his 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut in the All-Star Race on Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The 30-year-old missed the first 11 races of the season after breaking his leg and foot during the season-opening Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway.

"I'll be sore for a couple of days, just muscles that haven't been woken up like this for a little while," Busch said in the media center after the race. "It's nothing new. Typically I get like that in the beginning of the year anyway. It takes a few weeks to kind of get warmed up to things, (for) your body to kind of settle in."

Busch was sent to the back of the field after he received a pit road penalty for speeding in the third of four 25-lap segments. By Lap 60, in that same segment, he had to pit under green because of a loose left-rear tire, leaving him one lap down.

After the fourth and final segment, Busch was back on the lead lap and entered pit road in 13th position. His team changed all four tires quickly and he headed back out for the final 10-lap shootout in 10th position.

He climbed up four spots during the final 10 laps and was in sixth when the checkered flag flew.

The real test for Busch will come next weekend in the Coca-Cola 600, the longest race of the season.

"As far as endurance goes for next week, I felt like I got out of the car after a hundred laps and I'm fine," he said. "Am I going to die out after 200 or 300? I don't know. The plan is to go the full distance."
