Munoz closes out MMA career with drubbing of Barnatt
Mark Munoz closed out his MMA career with a dominant unanimous-decision victory over Luke Barnatt in front of a frenzied crowd in Manila.
Munoz blitzed Barnatt from the opening bell, dominating the first round with stout wrestling, hellacious ground-and-pound, and big, slugging combinations on the feet.
The pace slowed significantly in the second round, with Munoz, who may have gassed himself out a bit with his all-out attack in the first, likely taking the round with superior control (and a giant right hand to close the round), though Barnatt started turning the tide with some decent combinations.
As if energized by the Filipino crowd, Munoz fired some heavy artillery to start the third stanza, finding a home for his massive overhand right on the side of Barnatt’s skull. Munoz closed out the fight - and his career - launching bombs at Barnatt from top-control as the crowd went bananas.
Enjoy retirement, Mark. You’ve earned it.
"This is something I dreamed about and hoped for." Munoz strips off his gloves and rests them in the center of the Octagon. Amazing moment.
