Nover sneaks by Nam in UFC return
Welcome back, Phillipe Nover.
After five years away from the Octagon, Nover made a triumphant return to the UFC, sneaking by Yui Chul Nam via a controversial split decision.
Nover tried to stick to Nam like glue, controlling long stretches of the fight with some excellent wrestling. Nam was no shrinking violet, though, earning his “Korean Bulldozer” nickname with some heavy ground-and-pound in the closing moments of the second round.
Nam abandoned his go-for-broke striking game in the third frame, turning the tables on Nover by taking the former Ultimate Fighter finalist to the floor and working him over with an attempted arm-triangle choke.
As the seconds ticked away, Nam let go of the submission attempt and unleashed some vicious hammer fists until the final horn sounded.
UFC president Dana White did not agree with the decision.
I knew the judges were gonna ruin that fight! So frustrating, I don't know how u watch that fight and think Nover won 2 rounds. SUCKS!
