PHOTO: Kevin Durant reveals sketch of Nike KD8

Unbeknownst to most, Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant is covered in tattoos beneath his jersey. One of said tattoos is now the inspiration for his latest sneaker, with his saber-toothed tiger ink inspiring the design for the Nike KD8.

Due out this summer, the mock-up for the KD8 leaked online Monday, leading Durant to get ahead of the rumor cycle and unveil some sketches himself.

While it's unclear if the design has been altered specifically because of the Jones fracture that cost Durant most of his season, Pro Basketball Talk points out that if the mocks are to be believed, the KD8 has a lower silhouette and different forefoot cushion than the KD7.

Have a look:

In an earlier tweet, Durant had revealed that the shoe will draw inspiration from his saber-toothed tiger tattoo. After all, attacking is a part of him, not just some ink on his body.

Last year's edition of the sneaker was released in late June with more colorways coming out throughout the summer. It seems likely that Nike will follow a similar release timeline this time around, perhaps with advertising drawing on Durant's return from injury.
