VIDEO: Shaq's son a viral sensation

For those of you who are old enough to remember T.W.I.S.M., you're about to feel even older.

NBA legend and TNT analyst Shaquille O'Neal has been garnering headlines over the past 24 hours, but not for anything he's done on the hardwood or in the studio.

In the early 2000s, Shaq and his then-wife, Shaunie, had their first child together. Four championships, five teams, and hundreds of nicknames later, Shaq is taking a back seat to son, Shareef.

The younger O'Neal is a 6-foot-8 freshman. Let that soak in for a moment ... a 6-foot-8 freshman. This should come as no surprise, since Shaq himself was 6-foot-6 as a freshman.

Playing like a "point center" for Winward School in Los Angeles, Shareef is showing promise as a potential future prospect. As the NBA shifts away from a style of play which favors traditional big men (see: Shaq circa 1992-2011), players with a balanced combination of size and agility are more poised to thrive in a league filled with "stretch fours" and centers who run the floor like gazelles.

More impressive than Shareef's genetic predisposition for superior height is his display of ball-handling and athleticism - traits his father was not necessarily known for throughout the latter half of his career.

Some highlights from Papa Shaq's playing days at Robert G. Cole High School in San Antonio, Texas:

The new NBA reality bodes well for Shareef and his proud father, aptly nicknamed, "Shaq Daddy."
