Strasburg 'embarrassed' after getting rocked by D-Backs for career-high 8 runs

Washington Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg insists his injured shoulder blade is fully healed.

His latest performance suggests otherwise.

Strasburg was chased with one out in the fourth Tuesday after getting hammered for a career-high eight runs - seven earned - one week after exiting early due to shoulder and back discomfort. He allowed eight hits, including two doubles and two homers, while walking one and striking out three.

"Embarrased," he told reporters after the Nationals' 14-6 loss. "I let the team down."

The Arizona Diamondbacks jumped on Strasburg early and often Tuesday, scoring twice in the first and adding another in the third before using a five-run fourth to chase the Nationals starter out of the game. It was the most runs he's allowed in a start and equaled his dubious high for earned runs.

Most Runs IP H R ER
05-12-2015 3.1 8 8 7
08-08-2014 5.0 7 7 7

07-12-2013 2.0 5 7 7
08-28-2012 5.0 9 7 5

It marks the fourth time in seven outings Strasburg has allowed at least four runs in a start. The 26-year-old now owns a career-worst 6.06 ERA and 1.71 WHIP.
