Rangers win 9th straight elimination game on home ice, put pressure on Capitals

The New York Rangers won't let the home crowd leave disappointed.

That's been the case over the course of the past nine playoff elimination games played at Madison Square, including Friday's Game 5 overtime decision against the Washington Capitals.

This streak now stands as an NHL record.

In goalie Henrik Lundqvist's estimation, this puts all the pressure squarely back on the Capitals.

"Going home now, there's a lot of pressure for them," Lundqvist asserted after the game. "I know for sure they don't want to come back here."

If recent history is any indication, Washington would indeed be well served by avoiding a Game 7 situation back in New York.
