Texas was able to lure head coach Shaka Smart away from VCU, but they won't be able to bring his famous trademark to Austin along with him.
The University of Texas has withdrawn its applications to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to trademark variations on the "Havoc" trademark, including "HORNS HAVOC" and "HOUSE OF HAVOC," according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
"Havoc" is the name that Smart's style of pressure defense came to be known as during his time with the Rams.
The biggest reason Texas gave up its pursuit of the trademark is that VCU holds the trademark on "Havoc" with the State Corporation Commission of Virginia.
