After going undrafted as a result of an ongoing murder investigation in which he was sought for questioning, former LSU offensive tackle La'el Collins met with Baton Rouge, La., police Monday.

BRPD spokesman Cpl. Don Coppola told Jim Kleinpeter of The Times-Picayune that he did not have any new information to report, but he did confirm, as had been said throughout the process thus far, that Collins is not a suspect in the case.

Now having met with police, the offensive tackle will likely begin to weigh his options when it comes to signing an undrafted free agent contract with an NFL team.

"It went fine; we answered all their questions," attorney Jim Boren said. "La'el is not going to make any comments. I'm not going to have any comments. The investigation is going to continue. La'el is now going to start making an effort to start getting his football career back on track."

Once thought to be a first-round lock, Collins' draft stock plummeted when word surfaced that he was wanted for questioning in the murder investigation of a pregnant woman believed to be his former girlfriend.

After Collins wasn't selected in the first three rounds this weekend, he and his representation reportedly told teams that he would not sign a contract if selected on Day 3, instead opting to re-enter the draft next year.

Going undrafted leaves him ineligible for the 2016 draft, however, and he'll now have no other choice but to sign as a rookie free agent to start his NFL career.
