Report: Jameis Winston's contract prohibits him from playing baseball

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers wasted no time in ensuring that their new star quarterback will only be focusing on one sport at the professional level.

Jameis Winston agreed to terms on a contract just days after officially joining the team as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, and his rookie deal with the Buccaneers reportedly includes a clause that prohibits him from playing professional baseball, according to Peter King of MMQB.com.

Of course, Winston playing two sports at the professional level was always unlikely given the extensive time commitment required of an NFL quarterback, but his long-standing dream of doing so certainly made for an interesting talking point throughout the pre-draft process.

While the clause will only be in effect through the life of his rookie deal, the odds of his next contract - whether with Tampa Bay or another NFL team - allowing him the opportunity to play baseball remain quite slim.

With Winston having agreed to the contract so soon after being drafted, it seems that he is indeed on board with the decision to effectively end his baseball career, ready to take over as the face of the Buccaneers' franchise.
