Eric Gordon: Unsure If He'll Opt Out Of Contract

Gordon said he's unsure if he'll opt out of the final year of his contract this summer, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. "There's no decision on that right now at all," Gordon said. "We're going to be good for a long time as long as we stick together. I will say that."

Analysis:

Gordon has an early termination option, but he does not have to make a decision until June 29. If he opts in, he'll make $15.5 million in 2015-16, a per-year number he's unlikely to command on the open market. Gordon played the second half of the season through a torn labrum but it did not appear to adversely affect his play, as he finished the year shooting a career-best 44.8 percent from three while attempting more than five per game. Coach Monty Williams praised Gordon's play this season, and right now it appears the two sides have mutual interest in reuniting next season. The question for Gordon will be whether he'd prefer to seek a longer-term deal, though with the cap set to expand next summer that wouldn't necessarily be in his best interest.
