Report: Eagles expected to use Sam Bradford as trade chip to acquire No. 2 pick

Despite Chip Kelly's insistence otherwise, the belief around the NFL is that the Philadelphia Eagles plan to use Sam Bradford as a trade chip to move up to the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported during an appearance on "Mike and Mike in the Morning."

Schefter also hinted strongly that he expects the Tennessee Titans to deal the No. 2 pick.

Speculation arose almost immediately after Philadelphia acquired Bradford in a trade with the St. Louis Rams about whether the team would flip the quarterback in another deal. Kelly tried to dispel that notion, telling reporters that the Eagles would never mortgage their future to move up in the draft.

"We did not bring Sam in here to be a chip," Kelly said. "I'm the only Chip here."

However, Kelly has been open about his admiration for Marcus Mariota, and Eagles vice president of player personnel Ed Marynowitz didn't rule out the possibility of trading up for the Oregon product during a recent news conference.

Also, ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reported Wednesday that sources within Mariota's camp believe it will come down to the Eagles and San Diego Chargers in a bidding war with the Titans.

Bradford has started 49 games over the course of his career, throwing for 11,065 yards, 59 touchdowns and 38 interceptions. He missed all of last season with a torn ACL.
