D-Backs say Bradley's prognosis 'very positive' after taking comebacker to head

Arizona Diamondbacks rookie right-hander Archie Bradley never lost consciousness and showed no signs of a concussion after taking a line drive off the head in the second inning of Tuesday's game.

Bradley, who laid on the ground for several minutes but walked off the field under his own power, was taken to hospital for further tests before returning to Chase Field in time to see the Diamondbacks secure a 12-5 win over the Colorado Rockies. 

"I kind of woke up and I was laying down," Bradley said after the game. "And I was like 'Oh, crap, what just happened?'"

Diamondbacks trainer Ken Crenshaw said Bradley has swelling in his sinus cavity but described his initial prognosis as "very positive." 

"Well, it's not pretty to look at the mirror right now," Bradley joked. "Now my concern is to get healthy and get back out there."

The speed of the line drive off the bat of Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez was measured at 115 mph, according to MLB.com.

Bradley, the Diamondbacks' first-round pick in 2011, entered Tuesday's start 2-0 with a 1.45 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 18 2/3 innings.
