After having a depleted blue-line down the stretch, it looks as though a Game 7 win against the Washington Capitals would have brought relief to the New York Islanders

Defenseman Travis Hamonic told reporters Tuesday that he was hopeful for a round two return. The 24-year-old elaborated on his injury, saying he tore his left MCL with the original prognosis being six-to-eight weeks, meaning a return was close.

He had been out of the Islanders' lineup since April 10 and things got worse for the Islanders after Lubomir Visnovsky was injured during in Game 4.

Hamonic had five goals and 33 points in 71 games.
