Eagles exercise 5th-year option on Fletcher Cox

Fletcher Cox's strong play has earned him an endorsement from the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles picked up Cox's fifth-year option Monday, ensuring the defensive end will remain with the team through 2016.
Actually Cox's deal is worth $1.786 million this year year, $7.8 million in 2016. The larger figure is guaranteed for injury only.

Cox has been a consistent presence on the Eagles' defensive line since he was drafted in 2012, recording 12.5 sacks over that span.
Trent Cole was released by Philly in the offseason, meaning the Eagles will be counting on Brandon Graham and Cox for increased output in 2015.
