VIDEO: Quick whistle prevents Senators goal vs. Canadiens
Marc DesRosiers / USA Today
Jean-Gabriel Pageau thought he scored the tying goal in the second period of Sunday's Game 6 between the Ottawa Senators and the Montreal Canadiens, but he was foiled by the whistle of an over-eager referee.
Canadiens netminder Carey Price stopped a shot by Mark Borowiecki and appeared to control the rebound, but the puck fell to the ice beside him. Pageau poked the puck into the net, but the referee was stationed on the opposite side of Price and called the play dead before the puck went in.
