Add another name to the list of potential general manager candidates for the Boston Bruins.
The club has reached out to New York Rangers assistant general manager Jeff Gorton, according to Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald. This comes amid reports that the Bruins are likely to promote assistant GM Don Sweeney, with Ray Shero and Paul Fenton also in consideration.
Gorton is familiar with the Bruins organization. He previously served as the team's AGM as well as interim GM for a few months back in 2006 - when Boston drafted Phil Kessel, Milan Lucic and Brad Marchand, and also managed to flip Andrew Raycroft for Tuukka Rask.
Gorton has worked under Glen Sather in New York since 2007.
