Bob DeChiara / USA Today

With a 2-1 win over Poland in the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group A Saturday, Hungary punched their ticket to the 2016 IIHF World Hockey Championship.

Hungary will join Kazakhstan as the two teams moving up from Division I Group A play to replace the two teams relegated during the 2015 Championship that kicks off May 1.

Kazakhstan clinched after going a perfect 5-0-0-0 in the round robin of the tournament and leading all teams with 26 goals and just six goals against.

Hungary has not made the top division since 2009, while Kazakhstan has been out just one year after being relegated during the 2014 tournament.

The 2016 Championship will be held in St. Petersburg and Moscow, Russia
