Mavs' Harris expected to return in Game 3 vs. Rockets

Jaime Valdez-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Mavericks returned home a battered and broken team after dropping the first two games of their Western Conference quarterfinal series against the rival Houston Rockets.

They finally got some good news ahead of Game 3, as guard Devin Harris, who sat out Game 2 after aggravating a left big toe injury in Game 1, is expected to suit up for the Mavs on Friday.

Harris sustained the injury in the second-last game of the regular season and sat out the team's season finale, returning for the postseason opener, only to be limited to nine minutes of action.

With Rajon Rondo being ruled out for the season due to a suspiciously timed back injury, Harris will join Monta Ellis, J.J. Barea and Raymond Felton as the only active guards on the roster.

Harris averaged 8.8 points, 3.1 assists, 1.8 rebounds and a steal in 22 minutes per game off the Dallas bench this season, posting a 42-36-82 shooting split.

Starting small forward Chandler Parsons was also ruled out for the remainder of the postseason due to a lingering right knee injury, which will require surgery.
