Report: MLB considering suspensions, fines for Blue Jays-Orioles blowup

Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

Major League Baseball is reportedly looking into potential penalties related to Tuesday night's game between the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays believe Jason Garcia should be suspended after the Orioles reliever threw behind All-Star Jose Bautista in the seventh inning of Toronto's 13-6 win, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Bautista homered off Garcia later in the at-bat, and his subsequent celebration triggered a war of words with Orioles star outfielder Adam Jones, manager Buck Showalter and both dugouts.

Tuesday's events were the latest in a series of hostilities between the two rival clubs that date back to 2013. Most recently, Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman was suspended five games last September for throwing toward the head of Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph.
