Bengals sign Marvin Lewis to 1-year extension through 2016

Andrew Weber / USA TODAY Sports

The Cincinnati Bengals announced a one-year contract extension for head coach Marvin Lewis.

Lewis is now signed through the 2016 season.

This is standard operating procedure for the Bengals. A year ago, Lewis signed a similar one-year extension through 2015. Unless the Bengals take a nosedive, it's conceivable the coach will continue signing one-year extensions with the team every offseason for years to come.

Lewis is 100-90-2 since joining the Bengals as head coach in 2003. He's taken the team to the playoffs six times (including a run of four straight seasons) but is still searching for his first postseason win.
