The Vancouver Canucks have recalled forward Sven Baertschi from the AHL's Utica Comets, general manager Jim Benning announced Tuesday.
The move comes in advance of Game 4 of an opening-round series with the Calgary Flames, the club that drafted Baertschi 13th overall in 2011.
Baertschi, 22, has appeared in three games with the Canucks this season, scoring two goals. In 15 games with the Comets, he registered seven goals and eight assists.
He's expected to join the club in time for Game 4, but there's no indication yet as to whether he'll suit up for the contest.
Update:
Canucks coach Desjardins calls Sven Baertschi a game-time decision: "He's a good player and we wanted him here in case we needed him."
