Report: Cowboys' Greg Hardy requests that arrest record be expunged
In February, prosecutors dismissed the domestic violence case against then-Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy after they were unable to locate his accuser to testify. Now, Hardy would like to see the case disappear for good.
Hardy's attorneys have filed a request asking that all records from the case be expunged, according to Mark Becker of WSOC-TV.
"He's been found guilty of absolutely nothing and he's entitled to have a record of that charge eliminated," attorney Tony Scheer told Becker.
Scheer, a former prosecutor, said the expunction would erase Hardy's mugshot and arrest record, and remove his cases from South Carolina's computer system, including his July 2014 conviction on charges of assaulting a female and communicating threats.
"Every record from the court system. The state keeps no record of that entire case," Scheer said.
The expunction process could take between three and six months, as it must first be approved by a judge and then sent to the State Bureau of Investigation in Raleigh.
